Turkey set to raise lowest pension to around 24,000 lira

The Turkish government is preparing a legal amendment to lift the minimum pension after June’s inflation data are released. Three scenarios are being discussed: a 17% raise would bring the lowest pension to about 23,400 TL, an 18% raise to 23,600 TL, and a 19% raise to 23,800 TL; officials have also mentioned the possibility of rounding the figure to roughly 24,000 TL.

SSK and Bağ‑Kur retirees already have a guaranteed 16.61% increase, while civil‑service pensioners are expected to receive around a 14% rise. Discussions in Ankara have ruled out any additional “seyyane” (across‑the‑board) increase, noting that past seyyane hikes exceeded 22,000 TL but are not being considered this time. The final amount will be confirmed after the June inflation figures, with a legislative proposal likely to be presented to parliament after July 3.
