Turkey and United Kingdom Sign New Defense and Security Agreement

Turkey and the United Kingdom have signed a comprehensive security and defence partnership at the NATO summit, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Keir Starmer witnessing the agreement. The pact expands cooperation across defence industry projects, counter‑terrorism, hybrid‑threat response, cyber‑security and other security domains, and mirrors the spirit of the 2021 Greece‑France defence accord, though sources say it does not contain a mutual‑defence clause.

Both sides kept the full text confidential, citing the sensitivity of some provisions. The agreement builds on an earlier strategic partnership framework signed in April and follows Ankara’s multi‑billion‑dollar Eurofighter Typhoon purchase from the UK, further deepening NATO‑allied ties between the two countries.
