Turkey and Bulgaria plan new Kapıkule-Kapitan Andreevo customs gate

Turkish and Bulgarian officials have conducted a joint field inspection to advance the 'Kapıkule/Kapitan Andreevo-North' customs gate project. The initiative aims to alleviate congestion at the existing Kapıkule-Kapitan Andreevo border crossing and improve the efficiency of border transitions.

As part of the modernization efforts on the Bulgarian side, the project intends to increase the border crossing capacity by approximately 25 percent. Planned infrastructure upgrades include increasing the number of lanes for trucks and passenger vehicles, constructing new hangars, control cabins, and modern bus terminals. The project also features automated passenger registration lanes, automated disinfection facilities, and platforms for mobile X-ray systems.
