Turkey and Cyprus Turkish Bar Association respond to shipwreck
Following a shipwreck near Kyrenia on August 30, the Cyprus Turkish Bar Association has released a list of lawyers to provide pro bono legal assistance to the victims and their families. Affected individuals can apply in person or via the association’s website to select a lawyer from the designated list. The legal services will be provided without charge to the applicants.
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, during a visit to Nicosia, stated that Turkey is working closely with Northern Cyprus authorities regarding the incident. Yılmaz noted that search and rescue operations have been ongoing and emphasized that Turkey will ensure those responsible are held accountable through legal processes. He also mentioned that Turkey is collaborating with local authorities to implement measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
