Turkey and Georgia sign higher education cooperation agreement

Turkey and Georgia have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in higher education. Following an invitation from Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze, the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Erol Özvar met with Minister Mikanadze in Tbilisi.

The agreement aims to develop joint undergraduate and graduate diploma programs, support the mobility of students and faculty through internships and training, and facilitate joint scientific research and meetings. It also includes provisions for encouraging scholarship-based student mobility, mutual university visits, sharing academic expertise, and exchanging information regarding the recognition of diplomas and degrees.

During the signing ceremony, Erol Özvar noted that the relationship between Turkey and Georgia is based on a long history and strategic partnership. He highlighted that the dialogue has gained momentum this year, building upon a foundational cooperation protocol signed in 1997.
