Great Hun-Turk Kurultay opens in Hungary to celebrate Turkic heritage
The Great Hun-Turk Kurultay has commenced in Bugac, Hungary, organized by the Hungarian Turan Foundation to promote the shared cultural heritage and historical ties of Hun and Turkic communities. The event brings together representatives from over 27 Turkic groups, including high-level officials such as AK Party Vice President Kürşad Zorlu, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), and culture ministers from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
During the opening ceremony, Kürşad Zorlu emphasized the deep historical and strategic bonds between Turkey and Hungary, noting that the OTS has reached an economic scale of $2.6 trillion. He highlighted that if maintained, the organization could become one of the world's top ten economies by 2030. The event serves as a platform for cultural diplomacy, featuring traditional displays such as nomadic life reenactments, archery, equestrian shows, and the Manas Epic.
Turkey has provided logistical support through TİKA, which established a special Hun-Turk tent to showcase its activities. The festival includes various exhibitions, such as the 'Treasures of the Huns, Turks, and Hungarians' and an 'Eastern Bazaar' featuring handicrafts from Uzbek, Turkmen, Azerbaijani, and Uyghur artisans.
