Turkey and Israel engage in sharp diplomatic confrontation

Diplomatic tensions between Turkey and Israel have escalated into a sharp verbal confrontation. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a forceful response to statements from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs that had directly targeted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Ankara rejected Israeli claims, describing them as slanderous and accusing members of the Netanyahu government of possessing a “corrupt mentality.” Turkey further criticized Israel regarding the situation in Gaza, alleging that Tel Aviv’s propaganda mechanisms are ineffective in convincing the international community.

The dispute follows an Israeli announcement in which Erdoğan was labeled an “antisemite” and accused of inciting hatred against the Jewish state, supporting Hamas, suppressing domestic opposition in Turkey, and conducting military interventions in neighboring countries. Burhanettin Duran, head of the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, also accused Israel of using slander to misdirect public opinion.
