Turkey and Kazakhstan expand aviation and cargo flight rights

Turkey and Kazakhstan have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand civil aviation cooperation and increase air connectivity between the two nations. The agreement was signed in Istanbul by Kemal Yüksek, Director General of Civil Aviation, and Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The new regulations expand existing passenger flight rights and provide airlines with greater operational flexibility. Capacity will be increased for flights from Istanbul to major Kazakh cities, including Astana and Almaty, with additional steps taken to develop connections from Ankara, Antalya, and Bodrum.

In terms of logistics, the agreement allows airlines from both countries to operate up to 38 scheduled cargo flights per week, aimed at strengthening trade and logistics through air transport. Beyond transport, the two nations intend to cooperate in areas such as aviation safety, security, training, and maintenance.
