Turkey and Mozambique expand maternal and child health cooperation

Turkey and Mozambique are strengthening their bilateral cooperation in the field of maternal and child health through the launch of a second phase of a joint project. The initiative aims to protect the health of mothers and infants while deepening healthcare partnerships between the two nations.

A delegation from Ankara University, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, visited Maputo to discuss the implementation of this new stage. During the visit, Ünüvar met with Ivan Manhiça, the Permanent Secretary of the Mozambique Ministry of Health, in the presence of the Turkish Ambassador to Mozambique, Ferhat Alkan.

The project is a collaborative effort involving the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Ankara University, and the Ministries of Health from both countries. This second phase seeks to consolidate the exchange of knowledge and experience to strengthen response capacities regarding maternal and infant health challenges.
