Turkey and Spain set $25 billion trade goal in Madrid talks
Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat met with Spanish Economy, Trade and Companies Minister Carlos Cuerpo Caballero in Madrid. The two officials discussed deepening bilateral economic ties, updating the EU‑Turkey customs union, and expanding cooperation in public procurement and EU trade policies.
They agreed to hold the fourth JETCO (Joint Economic and Trade Committee) meeting in Madrid in the autumn, with strong participation from business communities of both countries. The ministers set a target to raise annual Turkey‑Spain trade volume from about $20.5 billion to $25 billion.
Bolat also congratulated Spain on its FIFA World Cup victory and expressed sympathy for recent forest fires in the country, reaffirming Turkey’s support for its ally.
