Turkey and Syria municipalities launch home‑visit health support programs

In Zonguldak, Turkey, the provincial health directorate continued home‑visit services for pregnant and postpartum women under the Ministry of Health’s “Healthy Turkey Century” vision. A multidisciplinary team of doctors, midwives, psychologists and dietitians provided free counseling, breastfeeding advice, nutrition guidance, baby‑care information and introduced the free “Motherhood Journey” mobile app.

In Aksu, Syria, municipal teams from the Health and Culture, Arts and Social Services directorates carried out house‑to‑house visits in the Topallı and Kumköy neighborhoods. Accompanied by local muhtars, they identified residents’ social‑aid needs, measured blood pressure and blood‑sugar, and arranged physical‑therapy and personal‑care assistance for those requiring it.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen maternal and child health, prevent post‑natal complications and address basic health and social needs directly in citizens’ homes.
