Turkey and Taiwan initiate search and rescue cooperation

Turkey and Taiwan have initiated a cooperation program in the field of search and rescue to enhance experience and knowledge sharing. The Taiwan Special Search and Rescue Team (TSSRT), operating under the Taiwan National Fire Agency, visited Turkey to participate in training programs and technical inspections in Istanbul, Rize, and Trabzon.

In Rize, the delegation participated in Swift Water Rescue training, utilizing the region's high-flow rivers and challenging topography. The program focused on mutual exchange regarding rescue techniques, safety procedures, and organizational management. In Trabzon, technical assessments were conducted to evaluate disaster response capacities.

Serhat Akbel, Chairman of the AKUT Search and Rescue Association, emphasized the importance of sharing expertise in disaster preparedness and intervention. The collaboration aims to develop future joint training exercises and explore opportunities for working together during international disaster responses.
