Turkey and Northern Cyprus sign fiber infrastructure protocol

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz met with Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Ünal Üstel to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. Key outcomes included the signing of an additional protocol for the Fiber Project, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing the digital infrastructure and sovereignty of Northern Cyprus. The discussions also touched upon energy, connectivity, digitalization, education, transport, and health, reinforcing the existing memorandum regarding natural gas supply to Northern Cyprus.

Separately, the 'Dijitalde Hayat Kolay' (Life is Easier in Digital) project has opened applications for its new mentorship and grant cycle. This initiative, a collaboration between Türk Telekom, TOBB, UNDP, and Habitat Derneği, aims to empower women entrepreneurs by developing their digital competencies. Following a mentorship period, 20 selected entrepreneurs will receive a total of 3 million TL in grant support. Projects will be evaluated across five categories: Digital Solutions and AI, Creative Industries, Social Entrepreneurship, Local Development and Traditional Crafts, and Sustainability and Environment. Applications are open to women aged 18 and over until September 13.
