Turkey and UK host clean energy and sustainable finance conference
The Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) hosted the “Turkey-United Kingdom Clean Energy and Sustainable Finance Conference” in Istanbul, focused on accelerating energy transformation toward COP31.
Turkish Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ahmet Berat Çonkar announced a $100 billion investment and reform program for electricity infrastructure. He invited British investors to explore opportunities in Turkey, noting the country’s goal to reach 120 gigawatts of installed wind and solar capacity by 2035. Çonkar highlighted that offshore wind energy tenders are planned for 2027 and welcomed international expertise in project development, engineering, and equipment manufacturing.
DEIK President Nail Olpak emphasized that accelerating green investments requires new cooperation models. He suggested combining British expertise in sustainable finance with Turkey’s project pipeline and delivery capabilities to mobilize capital for both domestic and third-market transformations. Olpak noted that opportunities exist across the entire value chain, including renewable energy, grid modernization, energy storage, and offshore wind.
