Turkey animals receive cooling treatments during heatwave

As temperatures rise across Turkey, various methods are being employed to protect animals from extreme heat. In Gaziantep, the Gaziantep Natural Life Park—one of the largest in the world—is providing specialized cooling treatments for its inhabitants. Predators such as lions, tigers, and bears are being fed frozen meat cocktails, while bears receive frozen seasonal fruit cocktails to help them regulate their body temperature. Other animals, including elephants, zebras, and camels, are being cooled using sprinklers and hoses.

In the Adana province, specifically in the İmamoğlu district, livestock farmers are also implementing cooling measures. To combat heat reaching 42 degrees Celsius, farmer Ali Şahin is using ice cubes in the drinking water for his sheep and goats. Additionally, he utilizes fans in the barns and washes the animals with cold water to provide relief during the hottest parts of the day.
