Turkey announces cyber security training and UAV expansion for 2027
Turkey has launched the 2027 period of the Cyber Vatan Program, coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The program will utilize a new model titled “Artificial Intelligence Supported Cyber Security Talent Program” to address the growing importance of AI in cybersecurity. Young people from all 81 provinces can apply for three months of online training, with successful candidates moving on to in-person sessions covering penetration testing and AI in cybersecurity.
In a separate development regarding defense capabilities, the Gendarmerie General Command plans to expand its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) fleet in 2027. According to the Presidential 2027 Annual Program, the command will acquire one AKSUNGUR operational UAV system produced by TUSAŞ. The AKSUNGUR is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) platform capable of staying airborne for up to 50 hours and carrying over 750 kilograms of payload. The procurement process will be managed by the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the Presidency of Defense Industries.
