Turkey to raise lowest pension to around 23,000 lira in July salary hike
Turkey is preparing a July wage increase for retirees and civil servants based on recent inflation data. Central Bank surveys project June inflation at about 1.3‑1.5%, which would lift the SSK and Bağ‑Kur pension increase to roughly 18% (estimates range from 17.5% to 18.5%). Civil‑servant and civil‑servant pension hikes are expected at about 13‑14%.
Under these scenarios the current minimum pension of 20,000 lira could rise to between 23,600 lira and 24,000 lira. The lowest civil‑servant salary, currently 61,890 lira, may reach around 70,500 lira, while the minimum civil‑servant pension could climb from 27,770 lira to roughly 31,640 lira. Final rates will be confirmed after the official June inflation figures are released on 3 July.
Experts cited include SGK specialist Murat Bal, who expects the lowest pension to be set in the 23‑24 k lira band, and analyst İsa Karakaş, who notes a gap of about 4.2 percentage points between pension and civil‑servant increases due to collective‑agreement formulas.
