Turkey announces new educational initiatives and school openings in Syria
The Turkish Embassy in Damascus hosted a graduation ceremony for 28 Syrian students who completed their high school education through the Turkish open education program. The graduates had previously resided in Turkey and returned to Syria following the fall of the Ba'ath regime.
Turkish Ambassador Noah Yilmaz stated that the certificates awarded are significant for strengthening bilateral relations and emphasized that students who studied in Turkey retain their educational rights. He noted that graduates can pursue further studies in either Turkey or Syria.
Educational Counselor Mohammad Musa Budak announced that a new Turkish school, covering kindergarten through high school, is set to open in Damascus within the next one to two weeks. He further detailed plans to expand Turkish educational presence by opening similar schools in Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia, and Homs. Additionally, Turkey is working to reopen the Turkish language department at Aleppo University and establish a new one at Damascus University. The open education program utilized by these students is currently active in over 25 countries.
