Turkish financial markets report mixed currency and gold trends
Turkish financial markets show mixed movement as the US Dollar trades at 48.11 TL and the Euro at 56.09 TL. While the BIST 100 index recorded a slight increase of 0.49%, gold prices saw a minor decline to 7,033.45 TL.
Economist Tuna Kaya noted that global gold demand remains strong, driven by a $350 trillion global debt load and central bank reserve accumulation. Kaya highlighted that while temporary pullbacks may occur, the primary trend for gold remains upward, specifically pointing to significant gold purchases by the Central Bank of China and other nations potentially conducting more discreet acquisitions.
In agricultural news, Nihat Çelik, President of TÜRKYED, issued a warning to producers against stubble burning. He noted that such practices damage soil fertility and ecosystems, reminding farmers that violators face administrative fines and potential imprisonment if the practice leads to forest fires.
