Turkey announces strategic initiatives for drug combat and technology growth
Under the 2027 Presidential Annual Program, Turkey has outlined comprehensive strategies to combat drug trafficking and bolster its technological ecosystem.
To address narcotics, the government plans to provide specialized training to 30,000 law enforcement personnel. The initiative aims to reach 732,000 individuals through awareness campaigns, specifically targeting children and youth. Additionally, the Ministry of Interior aims to conduct 254,678 operations against drug-related crimes next year. Efforts will also include monitoring new psychoactive substances through the Early Warning System National Working Group.
In the technology sector, Turkey is launching a Digital Company Platform to support high-tech startups with the potential to reach billion-dollar valuations. The roadmap includes increasing R&D spending from 1.73% to 1.89% of GDP. Support measures include postgraduate scholarships for R&D projects, programs to attract Turkish scientists from abroad, and increased employment of PhD graduates within R&D centers.
