Turkey names new chief prosecutors in Nevşehir, Tarsus, Mersin, Diyarbakır and Erzincan

The 2026 Hekimler ve Savcılar Kurulu (HSK) main decree reshuffled prosecutors across several Turkish provinces. Adem Çalış, formerly the Ağrı chief prosecutor, took office as Nevşehir Cumhuriyet Başsavcısı after a hand‑over ceremony with his predecessor Durmuş Ali Karakoca. Gürkan Özkaynak was transferred from Pazarcık to become the Tarsus chief prosecutor, emphasizing continued anti‑drug efforts.

In Mersin, newly appointed chief prosecutor Yasin Emre received a welcoming visit from the provincial governor, police chief, coast guard commander and gendarmerie commander, underscoring inter‑agency cooperation for public safety. Diyarbakır saw the appointment of Erdal Kuruçay as chief prosecutor, accompanied by a detailed allocation of responsibilities to deputy prosecutors for critical bureaus such as terrorism, organized crime, and cybercrime. Mustafa Değerli departed from his role as Erzincan chief prosecutor, with a formal farewell ceremony attended by the provincial governor and other officials.

These moves are part of a broader effort by the HSK to reallocate senior prosecutors, aiming for more efficient, rapid and law‑compliant judicial administration across the country.
