Turkey arrests 119 suspected ISIS members in nationwide operation
Turkey’s interior ministry announced that police detained 119 people in an operation spanning 30 provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara and Adana. The suspects are accused of belonging to the Islamic State, spreading its propaganda on social media and financing the group through charitable fronts. The crackdown follows a June gun‑battle in south Ankara that left a suspected ISIS member dead shortly before a NATO summit, and a subsequent wave of 209 arrests in Ankara ordered by the city’s chief prosecutor.
Authorities described the action as part of an intensified effort to dismantle extremist networks and prevent further terrorist activity across the country.
