Turkey arrests 80 suspects in multi‑province operation and returns 90 fugitives

Coordinated by the Interior Ministry, Turkish police carried out simultaneous raids in 12 provinces centred on İzmir, detaining 80 individuals alleged to belong to an organized criminal network. The sweeps targeted homes in Adana, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bilecik, Denizli, Düzce, Isparta, Kütahya, Manisa, Niğde and Uşak, seized about 3.3 million lira worth of cash, foreign currency and precious metals, and confiscated large amounts of digital material for further investigation.

In a separate effort, the ministry announced that 90 persons wanted for serious offenses were extradited to Turkey after cooperation with law‑enforcement agencies in 18 foreign jurisdictions, including Georgia, Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, the Netherlands and Japan. The returnees face charges ranging from fraud and drug trafficking to homicide and organized‑crime membership. The combined actions illustrate a broad crackdown on both domestic and transnational criminal activity.
