Turkey authorizes urgent expropriation for 12 energy transmission projects

A presidential decision has authorized the urgent expropriation of land for 12 energy transmission line projects aimed at strengthening Turkey’s electricity distribution infrastructure. The projects, managed by TEDAŞ, span approximately 77.6 kilometers across six provinces: Aksaray, Konya, Kocaeli, Nevşehir, Niğde, and Sakarya.

The expropriation process includes both direct land acquisition for facilities and the establishment of easement rights for security corridors along the lines. In total, the projects involve approximately 16,333 square meters of direct expropriation and 910,333 square meters of easement areas. The longest single project is located in Konya, covering over 26 kilometers.

In conjunction with these infrastructure upgrades, technical works are scheduled to modernize the grid and prevent winter outages. In Konya, these works will involve planned power outages affecting central districts such as Selçuklu, Meram, and Karatay, as well as outlying areas including Akşehir, Ereğli, Cihanbeyli, Beyşehir, and Seydişehir.
