Turkey reports mixed economic trends in automotive and agricultural sectors

Turkey's economic indicators show mixed results across the automotive, agricultural, and trade sectors. In the automotive industry, total production fell 7.3% to 841,583 units in the first eight months of 2026, driven by a 19% decline in passenger car output. In the market, brands like Jeep and SsangYong reported significant sales growth, while Togg increased its sales by 45.8%.

In the agricultural sector, poultry and dairy production showed growth. July 2026 data indicates a 17.2% annual increase in egg production and a 5.5% increase in chicken meat production. Milk collection also rose 4.4% year-on-year, reaching 987,634 tons in July.

Trade data reveals that Turkey's export unit value index rose by 8.2% in July, while the export quantity index fell by 4.9%. Additionally, exports to eight neighboring countries exceeded $18 billion during the January-August period, marking a 2.6% increase.
