Turkey blood donation campaigns see varying engagement in Balıkesir and Muş

Blood donation initiatives are being conducted across different regions in Turkey to support blood stocks. In Balıkesir, the Provincial Directorate of National Education implemented the ‘Okulumda KANpanya Var’ (There is a Blood Campaign in My School) project. This program rewards schools that contribute to blood donation drives for the 2025-2026 academic year. During an award ceremony, officials emphasized that the project helps develop social responsibility and volunteerism in students from an early age. Over 100 schools received plaques or certificates of appreciation for their participation.

In Muş, the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) deployed mobile units and set up stands on Istasyon Street to encourage donations. Despite efforts to increase visibility and reach more citizens, officials reported that public interest in the campaign was lower than expected. Local volunteers participated to support patients in hospitals, but authorities continue to urge the public to donate regularly to ensure the sustainability of blood supplies.
