Turkey calls for immediate end to Persian Gulf attacks

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has called for an immediate end to reciprocal attacks in the Persian Gulf, warning that escalating conflicts are severely undermining regional peace efforts. Speaking alongside Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Fidan emphasized that the security and stability of Iran directly impact the prosperity of the surrounding region.

A primary concern is the security of the Strait of Hormuz. Fidan urged for the restoration of the pre-war status quo to ensure the safe, uninterrupted, and free passage of maritime traffic. This request comes as maritime traffic in the strait has reached historic lows and oil prices have risen above $106 per barrel due to the ongoing US-Iran tensions.

Fidan also addressed security threats in the Black Sea, noting that recent attacks on civilian vessels have jeopardized lives, property, and the environment. He highlighted that Turkish and Azerbaijani sailors have lost their lives in these incidents, calling the spread of conflict in these vital waterways unacceptable.
