Turkey commits reconstruction aid for Venezuela's quake‑hit La Guaira

Turkish Ambassador Naci Aydan Karamanoglu said Turkey will help rebuild La Guaira after the devastating earthquakes that destroyed hundreds of structures. He noted Turkey’s position as the world’s second‑largest construction firm pool and said a delegation of Turkish builders will be sent to assess the damage and plan reconstruction. The ambassador also affirmed that commercial relations and Turkish investment in Venezuela’s agro‑food, sugar, cement and energy sectors will continue, and that Turkish Airlines plans to resume its pre‑quake flights to Caracas in August, maintaining five weekly frequencies.

In parallel, the World Turkish Business Council (DTİK) installed a drinking‑water purification plant in the AFAD tent city serving about 600 displaced residents. The plant produces 18,000 litres of clean water per day for 275 tents and distributed 300 water bottles at the inauguration ceremony. The aid follows the June 24 earthquakes that killed 5,546 people in the region.
