Turkey completes facsimile printing of historic Montenegrin mosque manuscript
Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced the completion of a facsimile printing of the historic Taşlıcalı Hüseyin Paşa Mosque Mushaf-ı Şerifi. The project was initiated following a request from the Islamic Union of Montenegro and instructions from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The manuscript, identified by experts from the Turkish Institution of Manuscripts (TÜYEK) as a 14th-century Mamluk mushaf, was endowed to the mosque in the second half of the 16th century. It has been preserved by Montenegrin Muslims through generations despite wars and migrations.
The restoration and digitization process was coordinated by TÜYEK, with the printing facilitated by the Istanbul Governorship. A copy has been presented to President Erdoğan, and the facsimile will be delivered to Montenegro via the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) in coordination with the Islamic Union of Montenegro.
