Turkey concordat decisions rise in early 2026

CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer has highlighted a significant rise in concordat decisions in Turkey, noting that the 3,529 decisions made in the first seven months of 2026 have already surpassed the 3,497 decisions recorded throughout the entirety of 2024.

Gürer stated that businesses are struggling to manage debts due to rising costs, shrinking markets, high interest rates, and difficulties in accessing financing. He warned that every business closure leads to decreased production and increased unemployment.

According to the data provided, the 3,529 decisions in early 2026 include 1,167 temporary stays, 918 definitive stays, 1,146 rejections, 171 bankruptcies, and 127 approvals. Over the last eight years, a total of 25,753 concordat applications have been finalized, with 15,297 specifically involving companies.
