Turkey conducts cyber operation following school attacks
The Turkish Ministry of Interior has launched a major cyber operation following a series of school attacks in Şanlıurfa, Kahramanmaraş, and Manisa. The operation targets provocative digital content and the activities of a new-generation crime group known as C31K.
Authorities have detained 3,810 suspects. Of these, 304 have been arrested, 1,163 are under judicial control, and 2,336 were released after questioning. Investigations into seven remaining suspects are ongoing. The Ministry identified various types of problematic content, including 1,138 aggressive accounts, 571 provocative accounts, 39 involving extremism or racism, and 38 accounts broadcasting games that incite violence in children.
In response to the digital threat, 12,141 URLs have been blocked, including Telegram channels linked to the C31K group. This includes 9,344 URLs specifically related to the school attacks and provocative content.
In light of recent violence, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of National Education have established protocols for the 2026-2027 academic year. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated that police will be deployed to high-risk schools, and additional security personnel, referred to as 'garden guards,' will be employed to enhance school safety.
