Turkey construction sector slows as concrete activity index hits 98

Data from the Türkiye Hazır Beton Birliği (THBB) for September 2026 indicates a continued slowdown in the construction sector. Most indices remained below the 100.00 threshold, signaling weak activity and expectations.

The Activity Index saw a significant decline, dropping to 98.00, which points to a reduction in field operations and production volume. The Expectation Index also continued its downward trend, reflecting negative outlooks from industry representatives. While the Confidence Index showed a slight recovery in September, it remains below the 100.00 threshold, suggesting that market confidence remains low.

On an annual basis, all indicators recorded declines compared to the same period last year. The Activity Index experienced the sharpest annual drop at 1.7%, followed by the Expectation Index at 1.5%, the Ready-Mix Concrete Index at 1.2%, and the Confidence Index at 0.3%.
