Turkey Court Seeks Life Sentence for Carpenter Who Killed 15‑Year‑Old with Air Compressor

In the Bozova district of Şanlıurfa, Turkey, 15‑year‑old apprentice Muhammed Kendirci died after being subjected to a high‑pressure (12 bar) air‑compressor attack by carpenter Habib Aksoy at a woodworking workshop on 14 November 2025. The child was bound, had a hose forced into his body, and was taken to hospitals in Bozova, Balıklıgöl and Harran University, where he succumbed four days later despite intensive care.

Prosecutors have filed an indictment accusing Aksoy of "attempted murder of a child" and are requesting a life‑imprisonment sentence. The case has drawn significant public attention, prompting protests in Bozova and a request to transfer the trial for security reasons. The first hearing is scheduled for 23 September 2026 at the Şanlıurfa 10th Heavy Penal Court.
