Turkey cuts gasoline price as Brent oil falls amid tensions

Brent crude fell from a high of $97.44 early June to around $93 per barrel, prompting Turkish authorities to adjust fuel taxes and tariffs. Effective midnight on 6 June, gasoline prices were reduced by 53 kuruş per litre, while diesel and LPG remained unchanged. The new listed prices are 62.97 TL in Istanbul’s European side, 62.82 TL on the Anatolian side, 63.89 TL in Ankara and 64.17 TL in İzmir. The price move reflects both the recent Brent decline and ongoing geopolitical risk in the Middle East, which continues to influence global oil markets.

Analysts note that the Hormuz Strait bottleneck and heightened Israel‑Hezbollah tensions keep oil prices sensitive to regional developments, but the immediate impact on Turkish motorists is the modest gasoline discount.
