Turkey delivers first domestic GÖKBEY helicopter to security forces
Turkey has completed the first delivery of the domestically developed T625 GÖKBEY general-purpose helicopter to the General Directorate of Security. The ceremony, held at TUSAŞ facilities, marks a significant milestone in the country's efforts to enhance its aviation and security capabilities.
Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries, stated that domestic helicopter programs have contributed over $35 billion to the Turkish economy and prevented more than $8 billion in direct imports. He noted that the defense industry's project volume has grown from $7.4 billion in 2003 to over $150 billion today, with the localization rate rising from 20 percent to 83 percent.
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi emphasized that the GÖKBEY helicopter will increase the state's speed and effectiveness in the field. He also detailed the current aviation inventory of the General Directorate of Security, which includes 35 helicopters, 5 aircraft, 19 tactical UAVs, and 1 operative UAV.
