Turkey designates new renewable energy zones across 13 provinces

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources announced that additional areas in 13 Turkish provinces have been classified as Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA). Published in the Official Gazette, the decree lists districts such as Polatlı (Ankara), Gercüş (Batman), Solhan (Bingöl), Keşan (Edirne), Cihanbeyli (Konya), Arapgir (Malatya), Yıldızeli (Sivas), Sulusaray (Tokat), and multiple districts in Uşak, as well as Akdağmadeni (Yozgat) and parts of Küpeli neighbourhood in Kayseri.

These zones are earmarked for solar and wind projects, aiming to expand Turkey’s renewable‑energy capacity, accelerate investment and tender processes, and make greater use of domestic resources.

The decision is part of the broader YEKA framework that facilitates large‑scale renewable projects by granting special status to selected sites.
