Turkey designs MUGEM aircraft carrier for unmanned systems
Turkey is developing the MUGEM aircraft carrier, which is designed to be the first of its kind to operate integrated unmanned aerial, surface, and underwater vehicles. Admiral Erjument Tatlialoglu, Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces, stated that the vessel will be part of a broader effort to build platforms capable of hybrid operations using autonomous systems.
In addition to the MUGEM, Turkey is developing the Tepe-class destroyer and a new generation of mine warfare vessels to support these hybrid capabilities. Recent naval exercises tested the coordination of 41 different systems from 17 companies, involving a mix of unmanned surface, underwater, aerial, and ground vehicles alongside piloted platforms. Admiral Tatlialoglu described the training as a preparation for the future of warfare.
