Turkey develops GETAD system to supplement low-income household earnings

Turkey is preparing a new social assistance model called the Income Complementary Family Support System (GETAD). Unlike standard pension increases, this system focuses on total household income rather than individual monthly pension amounts.

The goal of GETAD is to ensure that households falling below a specific income threshold receive public support to bridge the gap. This means the amount of support provided may vary for each family depending on their specific economic situation and total household income.

A pilot implementation is planned for 2027, which will initially take place in several provinces before a nationwide rollout. While the system is expected to assist low-income retirees, it is not designed to provide a uniform extra payment to all pensioners.
