Turkey diesel fuel prices to rise following scheduled tax increases
Diesel fuel prices in Turkey are set to increase starting September 1, 2026, following a scheduled phase-in of the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV). Under a Presidential Decision issued on August 13, the ÖTV on certain types of diesel was temporarily set to zero per liter for the period of August 13–31.
Starting September 1, the ÖTV will rise to 3 TL per liter. When including the 20% Value Added Tax (KDV) applied to the tax base, the total increase at the pump is estimated to be 3.60 TL per liter. The regulation outlines a progressive tax schedule for the remainder of the year: 6 TL in October, 9 TL in November, and 12 TL in December. From January 1, 2027, the rate is scheduled to reach 13.9006 TL per liter.
This tax adjustment specifically targets diesel fuel; gasoline and LPG are not included in this particular tax increase schedule.
