Turkey announces diesel and gasoline price cuts, limited pump impact

Global Brent crude prices fell below $80 a barrel, prompting Turkish fuel distributors to plan price reductions that take effect at 00:01 on 6 August 2026. The diesel (motorin) price is expected to drop by roughly 3 – 6 TL per litre, while gasoline (benzin) is slated for a 4.35 TL per‑litre reduction.

Because the bulk of the announced cuts is earmarked for the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV), the net effect at the pump will be modest. Diesel prices are likely to fall by about 0.99 TL per litre, and gasoline prices are expected to remain unchanged on the signs. Official tables for Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir show diesel around 80 TL and gasoline around 67‑68 TL after the adjustments.

The discounts are part of a broader response to the oil‑price decline and to expectations of renewed US‑Iran diplomatic talks and the possible reopening of the Hormuz Strait, which together have eased market pressure on fuel costs.
