Turkey's fuel prices surge as July 2026 price hikes push motorin above 75 TL
During July 2026 a series of price increases raised the cost of motorin and gasoline across Turkey’s major cities. A night‑time adjustment on 21 July added 1.12‑1.14 TL per litre to motorin, lifting the fuel to 74‑75 TL in Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir and over 77 TL in several eastern provinces. A parallel rise of 1.23 TL per litre is expected for gasoline, bringing the price close to 70 TL in the largest markets.
The cumulative increase since the start of the month exceeds 8.5 TL for motorin. The hikes reflect volatile global oil markets, where Brent crude has climbed to around $90 per barrel and Goldman Sachs warns it could breach $120 if tensions around the Hormuz Strait intensify. The Turkish government’s “eşel mobil” scheme shields part of the tax burden, limiting the full impact on pump prices.
