Turkey diesel price tops 80 lira per litre amid July 2026 fuel hike

On 31 July 2026 the Turkish fuel regulator approved a new increase for motorin (diesel) of roughly 3.71 – 3.77 TL per litre. The change pushed diesel prices in the three largest cities above the 80 TL mark: Istanbul’s price rose to 80.97 TL, Ankara’s to 82.09 TL and İzmir’s to 82.37 TL per litre. Gasoline (benzin) was raised by 0.10 TL per litre, while sector sources expect a 2.50 TL per litre hike for LPG/otogaz once the change is reflected on pump tables.

The surge comes despite a recent dip in international Brent and WTI crude prices, because domestic factors – the Turkish lira’s exchange‑rate weakness and higher excise taxes – continue to drive retail fuel costs upward. Analysts warn that the added diesel cost will strain transport operators, logistics firms and agricultural producers; a 50‑litre tank in İzmir now costs about 4,118 TL, roughly 823 TL more than a month earlier.
