Turkey Electricity Distribution Company Court Orders Expropriation of Land for Power Lines
Turkish civil courts in Karasu, Sürmene and Gaziosmanpaşa have each issued expropriation announcements for parcels of land needed for electricity infrastructure projects. The Karasu 1st Civil Court ordered the expropriation of properties along the 380 kV Akçakoca‑Karasu‑Çekmeköy transmission line and set compensation to be paid into the Karasu Vakıflar Bankası branch. The Sürmene 1st Civil Court approved the seizure of several parcels in Oylum/Fatih Mahallesi, Trabzon, with compensation to be deposited in the T.C. Halk Bankası Trabzon/Sürmene branch, and scheduled a hearing for 20 October 2026. The Gaziosmanpaşa 9th Civil Court ordered the expropriation of a 99.88 m² transformer site in Cebeci, Istanbul, for the Turkey Electricity Distribution Inc., with compensation to be determined under the expropriation law and paid to the designated bank.
Property owners have been given a 30‑day window from each announcement to lodge administrative or judicial challenges to the expropriation processes.
