Turkey emerges as independent global actor, says Deputy Minister Aydın

Ahmet Aydın, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security, stated that Turkey has become an independent actor capable of moving between different geopolitical axes. He emphasized that Turkey's NATO membership provides a strategic position within the Euro-Atlantic security architecture, while its multi-faceted foreign policy has strengthened ties with the Islamic world, stretching from the Middle East to Africa.

Aydın highlighted the Mecca Agreement as a demonstration of Turkey's growing political weight and its role as a mediator in international affairs. He noted that Turkey's diplomatic capacity is bolstered by its domestic defense industry, which has developed an ecosystem including unmanned systems, air defense, electronic warfare, and maritime platforms to enhance strategic independence.

Furthermore, Aydın outlined national objectives including 'Terror-free Turkey' to ensure domestic peace and a 'Terror-free Region' to promote regional stability. He concluded that Turkey is no longer merely a follower of global developments but is now an actor that helps set the international agenda.
