Turkey EPDK announces smart meter rollout for 7 million subscribers
Mustafa Yılmaz, President of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), has announced a major smart meter transformation within the National Smart Meter System (MASS). Under this initiative, approximately 2.7 million Smart Meter PRO models are planned for installation by the end of 2027.
As of September, the project has already completed the installation of 4 million Smart Meter EKO units and 70,000 Smart Meter PRO units. The initiative aims to bring approximately 7 million subscribers under remote meter reading capabilities within the next two years. Additionally, the project intends to include 15 million connection points in network monitoring studies.
Regarding the 2026–2030 implementation period, Yılmaz stated that the investment ceiling has been increased by approximately 1.5 times in real terms compared to the previous period. Furthermore, resources for planned maintenance have been raised by 2.1 times to support the 21 distribution companies operating across various geographic and climatic conditions.
