Turkey Ministry of Justice launches digital crime bureaus and legal hotline
The Turkish Ministry of Justice is implementing two major initiatives to reform judicial services and combat digital crimes.
First, the 'Alo Adalet 135' hotline is being expanded nationwide following a pilot program. This service allows citizens to report delays in legal proceedings, specifically for cases exceeding five years or investigations exceeding three years. The system aims to make judicial services more accessible and help resolve long-standing files through specialized efficiency bureaus.
Second, Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced the establishment of 'Digital Environment Security and Disinformation Combat Bureaus' across 175 heavy penal centers. These specialized units will be staffed by expert prosecutors tasked with monitoring digital content that promotes crime, violence, or exploitation, particularly targeting youth. The bureaus will also focus on combating disinformation that threatens public order and individual rights, aiming to increase coordination between institutions and accelerate legal responses to cyber-related offenses.
