Turkey expands benefits for 15 July coup martyrs and veterans

The Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services announced that 2,571 relatives of the 15 July 2016 coup attempt martyrs and veterans have been placed in public sector jobs. The programme also includes the issuance of 10,986 free travel cards for city, rail and sea transport and a 50 % discount on natural‑gas bills for eligible households.

Additional measures provide priority health‑care appointments, free access to childcare facilities, cash and supplementary compensation, interest‑free housing loans, exemptions from several taxes and fees, and a 50 % discount on airline tickets through Turkish Airlines and Ajet. Recipients also receive a State Pride Medal and other social‑economic advantages such as electricity and water discounts, tuition fee waivers, and holiday allowances.
