Turkey expands farm inspections to safeguard livestock and grain production
Veterinary officials from the Gediz District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in Kütahya province have begun taking blood samples from farms that hold a disease‑free status. The ongoing tests aim to monitor animal health, prevent the spread of contagious diseases and maintain the quality standards of animal products.
The Afyonkarahisar Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry is conducting phenological observations and inspections for disease, pest and rodent (sün) presence in wheat fields across the districts of Dazkırı, Hocalar, İscehisar and Sultandağı. Using a mobile product detection application, officials collect field data and verify farmer‑reported yields to ensure accurate monitoring of the grain production season.
Both programmes are part of Turkey's broader effort to protect food safety, support sustainable agricultural practices and enhance the competitiveness of its livestock and crop sectors.
