Turkey expands fire safety training for hospitals and supervised‑release participants

The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality’s fire brigade conducted a comprehensive fire‑prevention and evacuation drill at Korkuteli State Hospital. Staff received instruction on fire‑extinguisher use, evacuation procedures, and handling risks such as electrical faults and oxygen‑rich environments, followed by a practical drill in the hospital yard.

In Bilecik, the Supervisory Release Directorate partnered with the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) to train individuals under supervised release. Over an eight‑hour program, 12‑person groups received classroom and hands‑on training on fire awareness, tent‑setting, and humanitarian‑psychosocial aid. Graduates become certified AFAD volunteers, increasing the pool of citizens able to assist in emergencies and reinforcing the country’s disaster‑response capacity.

Both initiatives aim to improve public safety by educating professionals and community members on effective fire response and disaster assistance.
