Turkey Expands Import Inspection List, Adding Food Additives and Dropping Polypropylene Copolymers

The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry issued a new decree, published in the Official Gazette on 28 July 2026, revising the list of products subject to import inspection. The amendment adds items used in food production such as certain additives, aroma agents, processing aids, gum yeast, and packaging seals, aiming to strengthen food safety and consumer health safeguards. At the same time, the previously regulated group of polypropylene copolymer compounds is removed from the inspection list, as they are now excluded from mandatory checks.

The changes will be implemented jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Trade, with the updated controls targeting imports that affect human health, food safety, and animal and plant health.
